I chatter all the time about things that aren't very important, but when it comes to what really matters, I am pretty quiet. I actually like listening.
With friends who are patient enough, I ramble on and on. With others, I'm usually silent, since they usually do all the rambling. And people sort of expect me to listen. Which I guess is inevitable, since I'm mostly silent around mostly everyone. Most of the time. ;)
...and that is not simply hard to find, but hard to ask for.
I don't know about you, but I find it very hard to ask people to really listen, and to then speak honestly. I'm more comfortable asking for attention - it's less of a demand.
